What WIC actually checks

When you apply for WIC, the local clinic will verify:

Your income (must be at or below 185% of the federal poverty guidelines)
That you live in the state where you apply
That you are pregnant, postpartum, breastfeeding, an infant, or a child under age 5
Your nutrition risk (the clinic checks this)

WIC will not ask for a Social Security number, proof of citizenship, or immigration documents.
