The short version

• Applying for a government benefit is always free. You never need a paid product to apply.
• We may earn money from display ads and when you use some partner links.
• Money never decides which programs we cover, what we say about them or the order they appear in.
• Every ad and partner offer is labeled so you can tell it apart from our content.

Display advertising

We show display ads served by Google AdSense and similar networks. They are labeled “Advertisement.” The ad network, not OwedFinder, chooses which ad you see, and an ad appearing on our site is not an endorsement of the advertiser.

Our placement rules:

• No ads inside the benefits check or its questions.
• No ads directly above an official Apply button or phone number.
• No pop-ups, interstitials or ads disguised as site navigation or content.
• Ad space is reserved at a fixed size so the page doesn't jump while you read.

Ads may use cookies. You can control personalized advertising as described in our cookie policy and your privacy choices.

Affiliate partners and sponsored offers

Some pages show offers from partner companies, such as tax filing software, phone and internet plans, or financial products. They are labeled “Sponsored.” If you click one and sign up or buy, the partner may pay us a commission, at no extra cost to you.

• Sponsored offers are shown separately from program guides and never replace the free, official way to apply.
• Links to partners carry rel="sponsored", as search engines require for paid links.
• Ratings and facts shown on offer cards come from the partner or from public review sources, and are dated where they can change.
• A partner's terms, prices and eligibility are set by the partner and can change. Read them on the partner's site before you sign up.
• We don't share your benefits check answers with partners.

What never affects our content

Program guides, eligibility rules, income limits, calculators and benefits check results are produced by our editorial team from official sources, following our editorial policy. Results are ranked only by estimated value to you. Advertisers and partners can't review, edit, approve or pay to change any of it.

Links to government sites

Links to federal, state and local agencies are never paid. We link to them because they are the official place to apply, and we are not affiliated with any of them.

FTC compliance

This disclosure is made under the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255). We disclose material connections with partners near the offer itself and on this page.
