Medicaid renewal (redetermination)

A check to make sure you still qualify for Medicaid coverage, usually done every 12 months.

Medicaid renewal is when the state checks whether you still meet the income and other requirements for your coverage. The state will ask you to provide recent information like pay stubs or proof of income.

You need to respond to the renewal notice by the deadline, usually by sending documents or updating your information online. If you don't respond in time, your coverage may end even if you still qualify.

Renewal deadlines matter. It's free to apply or renew—you don't pay the state or Medicaid to check your eligibility. Only the Medicaid agency decides if you qualify.

Example: You got Medicaid last year. In month 11, the state sends you a form asking for your current income. You send recent pay stubs. The state confirms you still qualify and your coverage continues.
